Car Care Canada is Pleased to Officially Announce a New Relationship with Canadian Car Owner Magazine

October 26, 2009 -- Car Care Canada is extremely pleased to officially announce a new relationship with Canadian Car Owner magazine to further extend the Be Car Care Aware program to the general motoring public across Canada.

The relationship will brand Canadian Car Owner magazine, published by Newcom Business Media Inc., as the official print medium for the Be Car Care Aware program (BCCA). The BCCA initiative is a highly successful consumer education program that explains how regular service and maintenance can facilitate a healthier environment, create a safer vehicle and save money.

In the last three years, the program has blossomed into a national and international program with extensive media coverage on radio, television and in newspapers. In 2010, the program is concentrating on “seasonal” messages that help consumers understand what specific items they need to pay attention to as the weather changes.

Shops should never sell something that is not required.  But research has shown that an average of $140 worth of work that should have been performed is left on the table.  The problem is twofold:  First, the vehicle owner needs to be educated about the benefits that accrue as a result of having regularly scheduled maintenance performed on his/her vehicle.  Second, the shop owner needs to understand that a regularly scheduled maintenance program is a win-win situation.  He will sell more service work and the customer will enjoy a smoother running car with fewer breakdowns.

Car Care Canada’s relationship with Canadian Car Owner magazine represents the latest initiative in the BCCA program to educate shop owners and consumers on the importance of regularly scheduled maintenance programs.  Through Be Car Care Aware, the magazine will offer a third party endorsement that vehicle maintenance and repair is an effective way to protect a vehicle owner’s investment. It will allow shops to have an easy, approachable way to introduce seasonal maintenance to their customers.

We hope the industry embraces what we believe is a wonderful opportunity for shops to empower their customers and engage in relevant dialogue that will build relationships and increase satisfaction as well as trust.

With four editions per year, each shop can designate how many copies they would like to purchase for their waiting areas/customers. For any groups, associations or banner programs that would like to receive further information or to subscribe to the magazine please contact:

About Be Car Care Aware and Car Care Canada

Be Car Care Aware is a campaign to inform Canadian drivers about the benefits of regular, vehicle care, maintenance and repair. The campaign's purpose is to empower drivers to make sensible decisions about their vehicles and avoid costly repairs due to neglect. Be Car Care Aware is spearheaded by Car Care Canada and built around three key themes: safety, environmental protection and maximizing value for money spent on vehicle maintenance and repairs.

Car Care Canada is a non-profit advocacy group that offers research, consumer education and information about the Canadian automotive aftermarket industry. For more than 15 years, Car Care Canada has been working to advance the motoring public's understanding of the vital importance of regular vehicle maintenance and how, by taking a preventative approach to vehicle care and driving habits, motorists can lower their maintenance costs and improve safety.
